According to Globo Esporte, Carlo Ancelotti will announce Brazil's first squad since the World Cup this Wednesday. At the Brazilian Football Confederation headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, he will announce the players for the international break in late September and early October, including friendlies against Australia and India.
Ancelotti has already drawn up a preliminary list. This list will not be officially announced, but the clubs of the selected players will be notified in advance.
As of now, Globo Esporte has disclosed that Cruzeiro has 5 players on their reserve list: goalkeeper Otavio, defender Jonathan Jesus, defensive midfielder Ze Lucas, midfielder Matthäus Pereira, and forward Caio Jorge; Corinthians has 4: goalkeeper Hugo Sosa, right-back Matthäusinho, and midfielders Bonjaman Andrea and Breno Biton; Flamengo has 2 players on their reserve list: forwards Lino and Pedro Rostoli.
Brazil will face Australia twice: on September 25 at the Queensland National Bank Stadium in Townsville, and on September 29 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
The team will then travel to India. On October 3rd, Brazil will face India at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. This will be the first ever meeting between the two national teams.
The first squad for the new World Cup cycle is likely to include some new faces. Ancelotti stated when announcing these friendlies that he hopes to use these matches to assess players, especially young ones, and prepare for the Brazilian team's generational transition in the coming years.
The team's plans also include strengthening the connection between the first team and various youth teams. The coaching staff is focusing on U17 and U20 national team players, as well as some names expected to enter the next Olympic cycle.
