According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan plans to renew the contracts of Rabiot and Pavlovic, and has listed Gonzalo Inácio as a priority target for January.
Milan's transfer activity this summer indicates that the club will only bring in top players in the future, that is, "players who are worthy of Milan".
Cardinale has spent a total of €150 million on the transfers of Gonzalo Ramos, Gilardino, and Moreira. Milan will no longer bring in low-cost players, nor will they make last-minute signings to fill gaps in the squad.
The club will follow the same strategy used when acquiring Gonzalo Ramos and Gilardino: make a move in late June or early July to secure the deals before competitors, even if it means spending more money. These two players are the club and coaching staff's top choices, and the deals have already been researched and approved, meeting criteria such as scouting, data, personality, and tactical fit. This way, Amorim can use them from preseason preparation, while also considering post-World Cup holiday arrangements. If conditions permit, Moreira will also join in the same manner.
Milan will no longer allow negotiations to drag on indefinitely to save 2 to 3 million euros, as that money could be exchanged for training time, and especially, lost points. Milan, eager to make progress, can no longer afford such a price.
Missed the opportunity to make a signing
Milan also attempted to sign another top player, Gonzalo Inácio, in the final 48 hours of the transfer window. Milan submitted an offer of over €40 million to Sporting Lisbon, which was accepted, but only on the condition that Sporting Lisbon first sign a replacement. Since this condition was not met, Gonzalo Inácio's move to Milan is temporarily off, but talks may resume in January.
